• CUTTING EDGE TECHNOLOGY
E Eye IPL Treatment
Kay Street Eyecare were the first optometrists in the Gippsland area to offer the newest IPL (intense pulsed light) technology to treat meibomian gland dysfunction, one of the most common causes of dry eyes. Since then we have treated hundreds of patients with a success rate of around 85%!
Punctal Plugs
Punctal plugs are a simple yet effective solution for managing dry eyes by helping your eyes retain more natural tears. These tiny, biocompatible devices are inserted into the tear ducts to block tear drainage, allowing tears to stay on the eye surface longer, providing enhanced moisture and relief. Ideal for those with moderate to severe dry eyes, punctal plugs offer a minimally invasive treatment option that promotes long-lasting comfort and improves tear stability.
Gland Expression
Gland expression is a treatment designed to relieve dry eyes caused by Meibomian Dysfunction (MGD). This treatment involves gently massaging or expressing the blocked oil glands in your eyelids to restore the flow of natural oils to the tear film, helping to prevent tear evaporation and maintain moisture on the eye’s surface. By unblocking these glands, gland expression can significantly reduce dryness, irritation, and discomfort, offering a natural way to improve overall eye health and long-term relief from dry eye.
Medication & Supplements
Medications and supplements play a vital role in managing dry eyes by targeting inflammation, boosting tear production, or enhancing tear quality. Systemic medications may be prescribed when topical medications are ineffective, and we may also recommend oral supplements like Omega-3 fatty acids to help reduce irritation, soothe discomfort, and support overall eye health. Tailored to your specific condition, these treatments work alongside other therapies to provide long-lasting relief.
Hot/Cold Compress
Hot and cold compresses are a simple yet effective treatment for relieving dry eye symptoms. A warm compress helps to unblock the Meibomian glands, promoting the release of natural oils that prevent tear evaporation, while a cold compress reduces inflammation, irritation, and swelling around the eyes. Used regularly, compress treatments can provide soothing relief, improve tear quality, and support overall eye health, making them an easy and non-invasive option for managing dry eye discomfort.
Lid Scrubs
Lid scrubs are a gentle yet effective treatment designed to cleanse the eyelids and remove debris, bacteria, and excess oils that can contribute to dry eye symptoms. By maintaining clean eyelids and lashes, lid scrubs help to reduce inflammation, prevent gland blockages, and improve tear quality. This treatment is especially beneficial for those with blepharitis or Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD) and can be an important part of a daily routine to promote healthier eyes and long-lasting comfort.
